What's the best way to make the molded chrome headlights on most kits look more like headlights? I've used white paint before and to me it just never looks right. Thanks Gary

The white paint does work OK if you just dab it on lightly and pretty dry, so it barely looks like there is any on the headlight. It takes away from the chrome look, but doesn't look all white either.

What about a very light coat of Tamiya smoke?

Use Tamiya Flat Clear on them. It gives a convincing result.

I just saw on a FB post where the guy used 2 part UV curing fingernail polish on his. The result was quite realistic. I plan to try it myself.

I use 5 minute epoxy on my chrome headlights, I just apply it with a tooth pick to make a dome. I also use it on my chrome taillight after I paint the red on. Here's some pics of a hot rod I just finished. I think the results look pretty good. I hope this helps.

Let us know how you make out with it Dennis. I think its the best way to make realistic looking lenses.
