If you are familiar with the short run TV show Fire fly...You will know what this is. If not, Its the lead characters sidearm. It was made form an actual 38 police special (Snub nosed) revolver. All the cladding to make it appear larger and well, futuristic was mad by investment casting brass pieces that were then attached to the actual gun. The grip was also changed by cutting off the actual frame and welding on a frame to give the weapon a colt 45 style grip. The guns function was retained for the purposes of being able to fire blanks for scenes where Mal had to actually shoot. This is a 3 D printed replica of that firearm, I tend to build these for Firefly fans who are involved in cosplay events and such. I build 3 a yr, this is # 3 for 2021. As you can see, its a fairly simple kit. not a lot of parts. but it does have ALOT of texture that needs to be removed. (Its all cast in PLA not resin) I fill all the parts with filler then sand em down smooth. Its really the only way, To bury it in filler primer would not work well and make fitting the components together rather difficult. It is all a tight fit when assembled. Soo...Heres a few pics!!! Next installment: LOTS of filler and LOTS of sanding...LOL...These things are a pain to build!!

Yeah, it was basically Cowboys in space. Lots of fun to watch and always had a good story. Todays installment: Body filler...On EVERYTHING... Have most of it finish sanded and ready for primer. Gotta tie up a few loose ends first like the octagonal barrel...Sheesh...Have to fill and sand each facet of it. The grips are actually kinda flat instead of rounded as they should be soo...MORE FILLER...Yay!!! (There's a reason I only do 3 of these a year) LOL Next installment should be primed and fitted components (It will actually start to look like a fire arm) Stay tuned!! and thanks for looking.

Todays installment. A few pics of what it looks like sort of put together. I smooth it all out in primer except for the grips. I leave them rough from sanding with 220 grit so the they end up with some wood grain texture. Once I paint them. They look pretty real. Next installment should be finished grips and everything else primed assembled and ready for paint. Stay tuned! and thanks for looking.

Totally missed this Pete! I've gotta say that I've never given thought to building a model gun before. Awesome stuff brother.
