This is the first of my projects for the dscv17. Its a bestmodelcarparts resin body with a tamiya 66 bug donor. I'll be using one of the recent 3d printed engines and some uscp wheels. I started on it yesterday and so far have the front axle narrowed 3mm each side so the wheels will sit inside the fenders as the tamiya bug has them flush which buggers up getting it slammed. I've also made front a rear suspension that works. I did this by drilling holes through the parts then removing the suspension arms and refitting with pins. At the rear I will be adding some trimmed rubber bands to the inside of the gearbox, and solid gluing the driveshafts to the brakes so the wheels will camber as its lowered.
I'm thinking to use hok lime gold or pagan gold paint over a heavy mettalic silver but that could change. More soon...

Got some work done on the engine. All the chrome so far is molotowe pens cleared with gauzy shine agent, but I'm testing s-01 clear on the next lot of chrome so we'll see if theres a difference. The colour is hok lime gold pearl over duplicolour silver with a lot of metallic to help the pop. The colour looks much better in sunlight

Interesting build Les, motor looks good !
Wish my molotow pens worked like this. All 3 come out a dull silver/grey now, no matter how much I shake em up ?
Any ideas why there no good ?

They only stay good for about a year mate, and storing them upright with the point up helps them last longer too. Mine seem to be lastinglonger than other folks so all i can guess is theway i store them helps. Also mine never sit in the sun or get warm which might affect them too

The lime gold is on, and its sat for a couple of days now so I'll get some clear on it later. The lime gold went on much easier than the pink I did on the datsun, laid down nice and even so i didn't have to do many coats unlike the pink that needed multiple coats to get even. You'll notice the dash is from a hebmuller to make the rhd swap easier to do I'm looking forward to getting all the chrome on this, and I've got some more pe parts on the way for all the bugs

Looks great Les! What type of clear did you use? Its just duplicolour clear Mike, I wasn't going to pay for a litre of the hok stuff as it seems expensive and more use on real cars. Being a model its no going to be outside in weather

I really like the direction that this is headed in Les. I've always wanted to build a trailer or van with interior details like this one's got. Awesome work so far brother.

This is really cool Les.
I dig the theme, and the outside the box thinking.
Coming along nicely.

file this under fail, now i'm gluing it not one bit fits and i test fitted everything every time i did something. I was building it for the dscv17 competition but the deadline is in 3 hours. i dont know why i bothered putting so much effort into it now. I dont know whether to throw it against the wall or cry. I've wasted 3 months on this pos. all the bits look nice but that means nothing. its a total disappointment and a complete waste of my best parts.

I've had some really detailed builds bite me in the "bohunkus" a few times too Les. With no time deadline do you think you could make everything behave. You've really put alot of work into this man.

I think so, but I'm going to have to repaint the interior and body parts, the glue fogged up the paint quite a lot. Ill avoid gorrila glue gel now
