Well tonights not gone well at work. The weather is quite windy and all but 2 of the lines and wires we tie up to th pier with snapped. I was onboard alone when it happened and luckily i had my phone with me as the power cable has been ripped apart so I had an hour and a half where i wouldn't have been able to do anything even if i knew what to do. Thankfully we got 4 crew onboard from the pilot boat and i'm glad i wasn't having to jump between boats. I'm not sure if I'll even be able to get off the bat when my shift finishes as just now we have the anchor down and are nowhere near the pier. The gangway we use to get on and off normally has been destroyed after getting caught between the boat and pier so that will be another problem for the morning. At least theres crew onboard now (including the owner) so hopefully there wont be anymore dramas but just in case there are the lifeboat has been put on standby

We're tied up again now after an 11 hour fight with the wind. Theres some damage but nothing serious. I was never in any real danger apart from getting cold

Good show. What is it that you do? I'm nightwatchman/cleaner on a passenger ferry on the orkney islands. Just now its more watch as I'm based on the old ferry so theres very little cleaning to do, so I take a model with me and get paid to build them
