The people voted...All 8 of them And this was the choice. I put the thread in the factory stock section since it is a factory stock car... The fact that it is a street legal race car isn't lost on me but... 2 of my recent builds were in the race car category soo...I ordered up some extras from Scale Motorsports in the form of P.E. Items and Carbon fiber decals. Color, well, Joe kinda made the choice for me with the "It looks sinister" statement. Color will be Tamiya TS 100 Semi gloss Bright Gun metal. The color was originally formulated for Tamiya's Mercedes GT 3 AMG kit... With the Carbon fiber accents and the satin sheen of this color...Sinister should be just right for this build, the color should really highlite the shape of this car. Since I am currently building a real car for a client and long time friend of mine. ( Time takes precedent where money is concerned) Installments may be a bit sporadic till I get the real car squared away and gone. So tune in from time to time to see whats going on and as always...Thanks for following along!!! .

Great choice IMO Pete!! Sinister was the first word that came to mind when I saw this ride. Can't wait to see this puppy under way. I recently got an flyer email from Scale Motorsport and was floored by some of their pricing but their photoetch seems to be really top notch stuff.

Their P.E is great to work with Joe (Soft, easy to cut/work with). Worth the coin if your building show level stuff. Yeah ...Sinister defines this ride quite well.

Ok gang: Engine/transaxle & suspension are done and attached to chassis tub. Added some carbon fiber to the rear air duct and plenum. Finished the exhaust, added some heat staining to it and put a pair of P.E. Rear spoiler adjustment/mounting fixtures to the side beams. Next installment will deal with the ...Interrior...Looks to be a lot going on there soo...It should prove interesting. Stay tuned!!!

Thanks Joe! Next time you want to do something that requires carbon fiber detail...I would recommend theirs. The stuff is a pleasure to work with.

Ok the real project car is done!! That said: Got some paint on the model today. Gotta say it, Tamiyas paints have always been top notch but, they hit it out of the park with this color. Semi gloss colors are easy to screw up if your not diligent about application and overlap. Metallics just make it more difficult in a flat/semi gloss medium. This stuff is fool proof!! The TS 100 bright gunmetal is THE BOMB. Decanted and shot through the airbrush it was soo nice to work with. I even tried to screw it up (Not too hard) but, I got a bit heavy in a spot or two just to see how it would lay down. No blemishes or mottling of the color or metallic. and subsequent color coats brought it all up to the same sheen/color level. I can imagine how it would look with some clear coat over it! (Can you say future project??) I really wish Aoshima would have done a better job with the doors on this kit. Opened or closed no in between Well I figure I'll close one and have the other opened... Just gotta decide which one fits less like crap than the other. Yes they fit the body poorly. Its not horrible but...Ah well. Heres a few pics. I was gonna just show the last two pics as a teaser but, that would be mean LOL Next installment should be finalization on the door descision and some more carbon fiber decaling. Thanks for following along!!!

Progress is looking terrific Pete. Bummer about the doors. You'd think with all the engineering that looks like went into this kit that Aoshima would've done a better job with fit.

Thanks fellas! Joe, the fit on the doors isn't terrible, just not up to my standards. The kit is well engineered, just wish the doors could open and close. OK so: Carbon fiber decals. Scale motorsports patterned C/F stuff is the bomb. Great to work with, will conform to almost anything with a little setting solution and heat. That said! (3) 2 to 4 hr sessions putting C/F decals on this monster(the drivers door jamb is 10 pieces of C/F alone!) LOL No, there were no patterns for door jambs on the sheet . I did end up copying the patterns to tracing paper and was able to get all the important stuff (and then some) out of one sheet with material left to spare. Scale motorsports leaves ALOT of dead space between patterns on the sheets. Besides, I wanted the C/F pattern to run the same way on adjacent panels (it wouldn't have if I followed their pattern layout) Soo, heres a few pics, enjoy!!! Next installment may be in the "On the road" section. we'll see, lots of little doo dads and greebles to install now. Might have one more inst' before the on the road As always, thanks for looking/commenting!!!
