I'm building tributes to the guys that influenced my automotive world, all of whom have passed.
I did one for my dad, I'm building the next one for my brother-in-law who taught me how to drive, and this ones in memory of my older brother. He was only a year older than me so we grew up being close. We built models together, then hot rods, of which he owned quite a few. This Chevelle was one of our favs. The paint didn't look as good but pretty much everything else is correct. It had Cragers, we swapped out the stock mirrors for those sporty ones out at the time, and added a Grant steering wheel. You can't see it but I cut out the stock radio and installed a resin cassette player, and added PE speaker grilles on the rear package shelf. The engine had the triangle air cleaner with the sponge filter. His had Mickey Thompson valve covers but I had those Motion covers and just used those. The license plate bears his nickname.
Thanks for looking.

Great build Dennis ! I always think it adds to a build when there's a family, or friend, connection. You never see the hours spent looking for parts like the real car had, or the memories it brings back when your building it, and when you finish it too ! Great job, must have been a tough looking car in it's day !

Very nice SS Dennis. I like what you said about building cars that have a special connection. It's kinda what I have been doing but the connection is the cars that I owned. Next up for me is '71 Olds Cutlass S I ordered new in '71 using a '70 JoHan 4-4-2 and 72 Hurst Olds kits.
