That looks fantastic!Interior and engine are super tidy. You're doing the same time consuming things I do (like tooth pick painting, lol) Correct firing order is something 99.5% of people will never notice, but it makes a world of difference when you do, well done.

I think you're doing well on this build so far Mark. I dunno if I would've used the decal for the radio or air conditioner controls or not as the decals didn't lay down too well over those control knobs. BUT....Microsol is a good decal softener that helps out with decals "sucking down" to details that you could apply over those areas to help out. I don't know how much experience you have with Microsol but I'll expand on it some if you'd like.
Good job on those wires to for only a second time. I've got a tutorial put together somewhere on spark plug wires that I can share with you if you'd like as well.
Thank you Joe. I usually use Microset/sol. They work great. I'm wondering how much of the issue is the decal being super thick, or maybe the Mark Set/Sol is weak---or perhaps better suited to another type of decal.
Thanks Deano. I am doing my best.
I managed to get the model done at 3:15 this morning. It's 4:30 now. Here is the teaser pic. The rest will be in the finished thread.
Thanks Bruce. From that angle it does, as well as a full on side shot like this.
But remember the twist in the chassis pan I mentioned earlier? I couldn't get it out with hot water. I thought that maybe once the model was "all together" as a unit it could be overcome, but the twist is very evident.
It affects the hood alignment and the whole feel of the car.
Next time I'll call the 1-800 number and ask for a new chassis pan. I didn't use the pan from the other kit because I plan on building a regular Cutlass. Six of one. One of the builds would be compromised no matter what.
Anyway, I am sharing this because this is something I learned, and I think it can be helpful to someone.
Here is a shot of the rear with the twist evident.
Now, on to more positive things.
The photoetch was applied using Testors 2736 Model Master clear top coat. Worked well. Next time my application process will be a bit better. It doesn't take much, as I found out.
I used the 442 emblems, W-30 emblems, and the door and trunk locks. I like the look of having those parts in real metal. It's cool. I will have to further investigate the possibilities afforded with PE. Another learning curve.
The exhaust tips provided in the kit are metal, but are straight cut. The ones on the 1:1 are slant cut. I filed them to the angle I thought looked correct. The 1:1 tips are also shaped like a trumpet. I couldn't do anything about that. Such is life.
One thing I think is cool is that they give you two rear axles. One is a regular 12 bolt, and the other is the super rare W-27 axle with the aluminum diff cover and housing. Steel axle housings. I painted it accordingly.
In real life there are only a handful of these rear ends out there, but the cool thing about modeling is that I can use one if I want. If I ordered the car in real life with the W-30, I would have ordered the W-27 to go with it.
Overall I think the kit is great. I learned a lot and I think the next one will be a little bit better than this one. I am still working on my techniques and trying products etc. Time card shows 47 hours.
mustang1989: I've been trying to add photos to my thread and can't access a single one. Just contacted imageshack about the problem. Will see what they say.
