I think I've got it fixed again. A light rub down then on with the white top coat. To simplify the masking I'm going to alter the front bumper paint a little so it flows better and is more like the rear. It would be a pig to mask the way it is

I always use duplicolor paints, but found their primers played up a fair bit, so i switched to Rustoleum Motospray primer for when i need a good filler/primer, and i also brought some auto primer ( VALSPAR) by the litre can, and run it through the air brush for final priming, never had a problem after that.
well the primer laid flat this time, then i looked back a few mins later and the body has crazed. I have scrubbed it with hot water and dish soap, hot water and cif (abrasive household cleaner) and scrubbed it with clean hot water. I am using duplicolour clear plastic primer, followed by duplicolour white primer so I dont think its a compatibility issue. Anyone have any ideas? i hope its not something in c1's resin cos I have a few of them
This is pretty much how I do the truck resin but I do add a drop of anti silicon solution into the paint including primer, I don't use Duplicolour primer mainly because it can be hard to get here - go figure!? Will look into the brands Dale mentions however.
I've had the white paint on for over a week now and this morning I did the blue with tamiya ts51. I changed the line of the two tone at the front to simplify things a little as it twisted around the vents and lights so my simplifying it made for a better masking job. Theres some small areas of overspray and a couple of the door lines didn't take paint but nothing serious so far. Hopefully I'll get the decals on later today or sometime tomorrow. All thats left to paint is the window surrounds on the glass so theres some careful masking to be done. I dont see why tamiya dont include window masks when all the other japanese kit manufacturers can.
For so few decals you wouldn't think it took 5 goddam hours, the stripe decals turned to dust when they hit the water and some of the rest broke apart but its a near 25 year old kit and I'm guessing it wasn't stored well. Anyway they were the only ones I had and a bit too big so i guess i should have got the 959 kit instead since they would have fit better. I also got the interior finished and did the chrome on the wheels as they had alreay been painted gold. I still have to mask and paint the black on the glass after a lot of careful masking (at least fujimi give you window masks) which I'm not looking forward to doing. I also realised I havent painted the mirrors yet so I'll get them done in the morning. All the decals that aren't straight anymore were the broken ones and if you look at the side decals you can see how I got them reduced enough to fit by careful trimming and manipulating the spacing. It wont be quite as low as this when the chassis is in it
if you look at the right side dials you can see one is missing, it wasn't one of the bad decals, the 996 decals were good but only the interior ones were used
It was all going too well and something had to go wrong.
I was close to finishing it too with just the rear lights to paint and bumper, wing and exhaust tips to fit. Also the glass has wrecked my slam at the back but i'm not sure why its so tall as the glass is thin and it sat nice with just the interior. I'll still finish it but its going to have one stock wheel while i come up with a fix. Going to try and buy one single wheel from the guy if possible otherwise its going to be new rims. I'm hopeful he will sell one wheel and I'll be getting a few vw aircooled wheels at the same time
UPDATE- great service from ucsp, messaged them after i posted this and a response almost immediately. I was going to buy more wheels anyway and dimitry has offered the extra wheel free with them.

That's a shame on the breakage mate, but also awesome on behalf of the seller to replace one. Looking great mate.
Yeah, I've found them good to deal with. I'm pleased to know it wont be a problem, and the stock wheel will just have to do until it gets here but the size is the same luckily. Its just going to look a bit odd but I suppose I can take the pics so it doesn't show too much. I wont hide it though. Just wish the back was lower, lol
mustang1989: I've been trying to add photos to my thread and can't access a single one. Just contacted imageshack about the problem. Will see what they say.
