Got two hauls in this Christmas. First models that have made their way into my home in 6 months!! emotion-8 I got this one to build for my cousin Jacky. There's actually a story behind this one!!! When we were all kids.....er....I was about 10-11 and my cousin Jack was 15-16....he got this kit from his parents for Christmas while we were visiting. I fell in love with the kit and while everyone was still sleeping the next morning I decided to “help him out” and built it for him. No paint at all....it was all molded color with the decals on it. I woke him up and told him that I built it for him as an “addition “ to his presents. Man.....I thought he was gonna kill me!! Here we are decades later and when I mentioned it to him on the phone a couple of months back I got a comical “you suck” reply from him. I’ve decided to build it for him with today’s skills. I’m pretty sure this time around he’ll appreciate it. Then I've been wanting to build a VW Bug for a long time now but I don't like building wussy Bugs. The only thing I don't like is that it's 1/35 scale but after reading the reviews on it and seeing how detailed it is I had to have one.

I did all right I think as for as modelling goes. Pencil drawing of the Star from Bearycrafty and a figurine kit. Hobby room drill so I don't have to bring in the hammer drill from the garage (it's a little overkill) And a couple of awesome enamel signs. The oil one will go on the retaining wall at the BBQ and the Sandman one will be in the hobby room!

Apart from getting stuck on the boat for 36 hrs i got a spray booth. Not had the chance to open it yet though. Also got a new coat because my one was making my family get embarrassed by its shabbiness (not shabby chic, just shabby, lol)

Whats your opinion about the vw motor? I've been thinking about getting a few Superb workmanship although 3D! Twin Webers with all the detail and the neat exhaust! Remember though it's only the engine no gearbox, so I'm looking at old Manx/Beetle/resin gearboxes when I've created a sandrail (hopefully)! Also painting is a testing time with brushes. I've re-painted the scooter twice now as shaky hands are not good brush painting an engine and gearbox inside a frame/chassis! Also remember plenty of hot soapy water to clean the item first and only acrylic paints stick and dry, enamel doesn't do either.

Nice score on that "Der Beetle Bus" Pat. I built that kit a few years ago. A bit toonish for my taste but it was a fun build. I really like those 3-D printed items you got as well. Great score!!

This is now sitting in my garage. After 5 years I finally pulled the trigger on one. Gonna have to go through it and upgrade the engine to some good performance specs but here she is for now.....my Chevrolet 454 Big Block.

Gonna have to go through it and upgrade the engine to some good performance specs but here she is for now.....my Chevrolet 454 Big Block. Awesome! I've got some history with that mill. I brought home a 70 SS454 back with me from the service back in '80. Dunno if you know it or not but it uses an externally weighted flywheel. That's how I was able to afford to buy mine. The guy that owned it couldn't figure out why the thing vibrated so badly at high RPM. A flywheel swap and that thing ran like a scalded dog!

Nice presents Dale, I can already see that pro Stock getting re-bodied ! As for the Pontiac i built one years ago. It was available as a 'customising series' and had optional front and rear ends etc. It even contained filler, and these metal type transfers.. Only problem was the metal axles..
