just started a new project. I v ` e managed to buy Gunze Sangyo Lotus Elan S3. the plan I to make this car into a drag car . I have decided this will be a tube chassis/caged car running a turbo rotary engine. the only piece of the floor pan that will be used is the cockpit area .just started the tube chassis and cage .here`s the progress so far

Looking good Dal... I'd like to try something similar myself one day, at this stage have you worked out ride height, engine size, anything like that, or do you work these out as you go ? I keep thinking if i try this I'll get half way through the build and find there's something I've forgotten, which won't now fit ! Looks good I'll be following along !

thanks lowlife ,thanks sharp lowlife I have the engine assembled and it`s been in and out a few times during the build, it`s tight but not touching anything. the ride height on this one is a bit of a problem as there`s not much depth in the body. the car will have a slight rake as there`s not enough room to get it level and squat to the ground.

The latesr update from Hurtz is in. I`ve got the cage and chassis finished. The cage has been painted, just got to touch up a couple bits of paint (yep I know another gold cage) the plan is to paint the body with a stock paint scheme. I`ve made the tubs and glued them in the body as the bottom part of the car is narrower than the top. The front suspension is now fitted. The last photo is the body mocked over the chassis, with the wheels mocked up for ride height

been doing a bit more on the Rotus Elan .the Mazda rotary 20b big turbo engine is fitted in place. the radiator and intercooler are also fitted. there`s a nitrous oxide bottle fitted in the passenger side of the car as well as a sealed battery box. the bonnet has been modified for the turbo intake and exhaust exit. the front panel in front of the turbo has been modified using half a headlight bowl of a Skippers Critter Anglia. this is to act as a duct to flow into the turbo. the body is just placed over at the moment .photo`s to follow .
