Going to be one heck of a build here. Ever since I was a kid I've had issues with these cars. I went with Dad to a house to cart rubbish away in his tipper and old mate had one of these in the drive and they sat me in it to steer as they pushed it out of the way and the 'smell' has stayed with me forever since. Something had to have died in this thing and now every time I see one the smell comes flooding back - even if it's a model apparently!!

Hi all well I've started, going to build the Meilen version. Started on the engines. And got the colour I'm going to use, i may be adding gold go faster stripes to it, not sure yet Sorry deano the green may add to the nausea. The eagle eyed among you may notice I've had a weird reaction to the paint on one of the doors (all the rest of the paint work seems to be ok)

Did a bit more to the engines Started adding the shackles plates to the bed Wondered how much filling would be needed so added some primer Must say I'm quite pleased so far.

Love the seats. How did you do that realistic finish?

Abt oil paint 502 engine grease stiff brush, prime seats with sandstone (or whatever colour you choose I didn't want a dark leather hence sandstone) get a small amount of the engine grease colour on stiff brush dab all over seats in a random manner allow a couple of hours for the paint to dry a bit(it will just all rub off otherwise) then with a soft cloth rub in then gently buff till you get it how you want(don't buff too much or it will get too shiney)(I did this 3 times because of that) stop buffing as soon as it's how you want it. It is easy to fix if you do go too far though just wipe it all down with white spirit. I only have the engine grease colour which is why I only put a small amount on but if you had some light brown oil paint you could probably get a much better effect.

Cool thanks for the info. I was thinking maybe you mottled it with a sponge but you stippled it with a brush and buffed it..Gonna have to try this. When I use mottling on figures I usually blend it back in with the base coat over it with a light coat from an airbrush,
