Hello, It's been a very long time since I modified a diecast model - or any other thing for that matter. I've been itching to get started again for some time, there's always that model that needs a touch of paint here, a stance adjustment there... but I never quite get to it, and there's always a good excuse not to do so. I've been meaning to modify a Maisto 2010 Camaro, but every time I look at it, the to-do list grows tenfold. I want to do everything, then end up disencouraging myself because of the size of the list. So I decided to leave the Camaro alone for now, and get started with something more simple: a wheel switcheroo. Very simple, except that I chose a Hot Wheels Foundation for that. And one of my favourites of the lot: a Ferrari F512M. First thing I noticed is how much better engineered was the 456M, it is way sturdier than any other Hot Wheels I disassembled before. For example, to remove the front steering assembly, you remove screws on each front lower suspension arm and then proceed to release the front steering knuckles.
