I'd say I built this kit when I was around 13 or so right around the 1981 time frame. It was my first car model I do remember that. Despite being a beginners build and a rough one at that, it has survived 35 years and is in my display case almost as it was when I built it. The engine is long gone and the passenger seat in the interior is loose but other than that it's all there. A couple of years after I built it I robbed a set of wheels from a "Street Demons" 41 Willys kit that I had just because I couldn't stand the rear wheels that came on it originally. Last year I took this one out of the case and repaired the suspension so that the body doesn't rest on top of the rear tires any longer and re-adhered the rear bumper and "dolled her up" a little bit for some decent photo shots.
What you see here is as it was 35 years ago (except the rear wheel and tire replacement in 1983) and while the build isn't that good , it has a vey special place in my display cabinet as being the build that started it all for me and the fact that it's survived all these years:
The kit boxing. I'm sure quite a number of you remember this one:

Cool, it's good to have old builds, especially your first. I'd like it even if it wasn't your first

I may try to locate a hood and an engine for it yet. It wont be a total restoration because I want that "first build" effect to it but I'd like it a bit more complete than what it is. Especially with that open hole in the hood. Anybody got a hood for one of these?

Looks way better than my first one. Even better than the first one I built when I came back to the hobby five years ago. I still have that one but I wouldn't dare show it.

Thanks Dennis. Hopefully if I find a hood for it I'll revive it just a smidgen.

Thanks Tim. I've got a hood that'll be on the way as of Friday so there'll be a "re-tweeking" on this build in the coming months.

Thanks Jason. I hear you on the chrome. lol. This one managed ok because it was under a display case for all those years but it still has the cutout in the hood for that retarded looking hood scoop that I installed initially. I've recently acquired a replacement hood for it (thanks to Paul) and it will be undergoing a minor overhaul within the year.
