My current project is a '62 T-Bird Roadster for the Classic Plastic Model Club Exhibition on October 8th. The body is painted with Testors One Coat Lacquer White Lightning. The interior is painted with Model Master Insignia Red with photoetch seat belt buckles. The completed 390 CID 6 barrel V-8. The wheels and tires have been assembled. The whitewalls were too wide, so I ran a black Sharpie around the inner edge to narrow the whitewall. I added a black wash to the wheel spokes. I need to repaint the rear seat cover and the hood. More to come...

Looks good so far Mike. I like that little engine/ xmsn stand that you've got there.

I like these T-birds, and the w/wall trick is a cool idea too.
That interior color really stands out, and will contrast real sweet with the white body

Thank you guys! I found the engine stand in the AMT ProShop '57 Thunderbird kit. I've also have the engine stand from the AMT '39/'40 Ford Tudor Sedan kit. I finished the dash and installed it into the interior. The interior is a very tight fit into the body. This seems to be where I will have trouble with the windshield. The dash is touching the cowl and there is no room for the windshield or the frame. I'll have to do some serious grinding here. The engine is detailed and touched up. Ready for the chassis. More to come...

Work on the interior and engine are looking fantastic Mike. Can't wait to see them both "in car".

Thanks guys! I got out the windshield and frame to get an idea of how much grinding I'm going to do. A lot!!! Even though the windshield is kind of thin, I still have to do a bit of grinding with a Dremel tool. As you can see from the pictures, the dash is touching the cowl. I had a brain fart last night. I have three of the chopped windshields from the '53 Studebaker kit and I wondered if I could somehow make one fit the T-Bird. Like I said, it was a brain fart! More to come...

After some thought, I have nixed the idea of using the chopped windshield from the '53 Studebaker as it won't fit very well. A speedster style windshield/windscreen is now out of the question, so where does that leave me? I have decided to open the gap between the leading edge of the dash panel and the cowl of the T-Bird body. I need the gap for the installation of the kit windshield. More to come...

Thanks DeeCee! I knew there was a way to make it fit! It just can't be built straight out of the box without some modification!

Thanks guys! I wasn't too disappointed by the chopped windshield. It is, what it is! I wanted to insert the taillights and looked at the instructions which says to add the rear bumper first, then insert the taillights, but something didn't seem right. The taillights stood out a country mile and needed a lot of chrome trim around the lenses! I mounted the taillights inside the bumper and they fit nice and flush. This seems the better way to go! More to come...

Nice and smooth with that tail light modification Michael.

Thanks DeeCee! But, I think it is a mixed up on AMT's behalf. If I followed the instructions, the taillights would stick out way too far, require too much chrome trim, and just look awkward.

Thank you Sharp! I got the body foiled! I needed to add another coat of paint to the hood and the rear seat cover to even out the pearl and the paint ran towards the front edge of the hoof and between the headrests . I'll have to strip the paint and re-prime and re-paint. More to come...

Thanks guys! I got the rear seat cover and the hood out of the stripper yesterday and I started sanding this morning. This afternoon, I gave them both a good coating of primer and tonight or tomorrow morning, I'll sand any imperfections and paint them with Testors One Coat Lacquer White Lightning. Meanwhile, I've been doing some assembly of the T-Bird. It should be ready for the Classic Plastic Model Club Exhibition on Sunday! More to come...
