I'm sure you all thought this had been pushed to the back of the pile. I have been plodding along with it but life has been getting in the way. The engine is pretty much the kit one, but I used the triple carbs from the revell 50 pick up which means I will have to make a small dent in the firewall. It just needs the distributor painted and the plug leads added to be complete. I've also got the interior near finished and the studebaker seats fitting nicely. I'm going to use some exterior handles on the door panels as whats there is nearly flat and with it being a one piece tub it seems the better way to go. I might try deecee's thread trick on the seats as well just to neaten the edges, then its on to flocking. The body is ready for paint so I should be getting primer tomorrow.
A little more progress. I got the roof painted this morning but may go back and add a little something to the 2 large panels as the darker edges dont show up too well in the pics. The first pic is closest to the colours. I did a test fit of the glass for the roof too and there may be a small problem with the fit for the rear window as it leaves a gap all along the lower edge. If I can get the front window to lay back a little more I should get past it, but just in case it doesn't fix it I have the carson top painted as well but will have to matt coat it.
The carson top is actually a pale cream colour but the flash made it show as white
Managed to get the body all primed which has led to a unusual problem. I used a new can of the primer I usually use but it has set like concrete and none of my wet n dry paper will even scratch it. Its not smooth enough to just paint over and I dont want to strip it. I think my plan is to give it a very light rub with 800 and see if it will work or even get it started.I'm also still working on the hood, getting the front edge to look right against the grille area isn't going too well. It was near finished but I decided it needed a slight peak as it looked wrong/poorly thought out without it

Managed to get the body parts painted last night, turned out a little darker than i was expecting. After the problems with the primer not flatting for me, there's probably more clear under the paint than on top of it as i used clear to give me something to flat. its gonna make foiling the trim a little bit of a challenge as I've lost some of the crispness but it meant I could get it painted without having to strip it. Next up is to get the chassis finished and choose some rear lights and a grille. I think I'm going to leave the top removable as I like the look of both and they both have that 50s style

Got the foil done this morning. Decided to add some to the grille surround to give the face a little bit of interest as it just looked like a hole with the dark paint (the inside edge was a pita). My plan is to go back and polish the paint later if I have time so I may have to redo the foil then but for now it'll have to do. For some reason the front is reminding me of a 60's mini but the grilles I have dont fit so I'm using what I think is a dodge centre bar.

I should manage to get this wrapped up today. I thought the grille was from a dodge but after looking at pics online it turns out not to be. If you know what it is please tell me, I'm stumped.
The rare flatheaded spider, I ended up ripping the wires out as the pe dividers kept going flying so I went back to doing the wires from the distributor. Still need to paint the inside of the carb stacks.
I tried to add some overspray to the chassis edges but it doesn't show up very well against the black
Tried deecee's thread on the edges of the seats to neaten up the edges, and used some parts from the revell 37 sedan to detail up the door panels, flocked the carpet in as near to gold as I had and finally foiled the bottoms of the door. I couldn't get the thread to stay stuck to the foil. The dash needs a little more detailing on the gauges and I notice i havent painted the pedals.
And the final stance should be something close to this. These are just mock up wheels, I'm using some of icemans caddy sombrero hubcaps on wide whites. only the rear suspension has been modded by adding lowering blocks. As far as I know (other than the grille) there is no parts from any car newer than 1955 on this.
I also notice just how much of a mess my bench is in, all that space filled with random bits of models and tools and general dirt, lol.
A teaser of how it sits just now, only the headlights and bumpers to fit but that wont happen until sunday, so hope to have finished pics posted monday. I used slightly smaller wheels and tyres on the rear since they can barely be seen and it helps with the tail dragger look.
